Interim Turnaround Consultant – Somerset Location: Somerset Day Rate: £300 per day Engagement: Self-Employed / Interim Consultancy Make a Meaningful Difference Where It Matters Most New Way Recruitment is seeking an experienced Interim Turnaround Consultant to provide hands-on leadership and specialist support to a care service in Somerset. This is an opportunity for an accomplished care professional who can step into a challenging environment, quickly establish what needs to change and, most importantly, turn improvement plans into sustainable outcomes for the people receiving care, their families and the staff supporting them. The Role Working alongside senior leadership and the existing management team, you will provide focused operational, regulatory and quality improvement support, helping to stabilise the service and embed stronger standards of care. Key responsibilities will include: Taking a hands-on approach to service turnaround, stabilisation and improvement. Completing an initial assessment of operational, regulatory, safeguarding and quality risks. Developing and implementing a clear, prioritised improvement action plan. Strengthening governance, quality assurance, auditing and monitoring systems. Supporting the service to meet and maintain CQC regulatory requirements and standards. Identifying gaps in care delivery, documentation, risk management and operational practice. Providing visible and supportive leadership to managers and care teams. Coaching, mentoring and developing the existing management team to build sustainable capability. Reviewing staffing, team culture, performance and workforce practices where required. Supporting improvements in care planning, risk assessments, safeguarding and person-centred care. Working collaboratively with senior stakeholders, families, professionals and external agencies where appropriate. Monitoring progress against agreed objectives and providing clear, evidence-based reporting. Embedding sustainable improvements so that progress continues beyond the consultant's involvement. Acting as a calm, credible and solutions-focused presence during periods of operational or regulatory pressure. About You We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager, Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Quality Lead, Turnaround Manager or senior care professional with a proven track record of improving challenging services. You will ideally have: Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, compliance and governance. Demonstrable experience of turnaround, service improvement or recovery work. Strong operational leadership experience within adult social care. The confidence to challenge poor practice constructively and implement change. Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills. A compassionate, person-centred approach to improving care. The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and deliver under pressure. A practical mindset — someone who is comfortable being hands-on rather than purely advisory.
